Dance UL

We had a very eventful day on Tuesday Nov 10th within UL quarters...it began at half 12 when a large group of our members showed what Dance UL is about by surprising everyone with a flashmob in the Students Union courtyard. This received a fantastic feedback and congrats to all who participated! Videos of the flashmob can be seen here on the site. Thanks to ULTV for filming it.

There was much excitment throughout the day with our PROs ELenor and Brige running around campus dressed for the occasion and advertising for our themed fundraiser: “FAME Night” in the Stables Bar, UL held late that evening!

This was a brilliant night, filled with great music, dance mats, crazy costumes and lots of dancing and fun.

A dance squad made up of some of the members from last year’s Dance UL Intervarsity team went to Cork, September 14th-15th, to audition for “The All-Ireland Talent Show.” Their performance wowed the judges and they are now through to Round Two in October! Well done guys and girls, we’re all rootin’ for you!!

was yet another success with a fantastic turn out and thank you to everyone who showed up! I’d also like to welcome our new “Shadow” committee members. These people will be shadowing the current Dance UL committee for the year, learning all about the job. This is in preparation to take over these positions as next year’s (2010/11) committee! Best of luck guys, I just know you’ll do great!

again this year having won the overall category last year. You can check out the winning performance by typing in “UL dance performance” or check out our Dance UL channel on Youtube or just have a look at our Gallery page. As you can see we set the bar pretty high so this year we want to keep it raised and up our game with an even more impressive performance. We also want to enter all the categories in the competition and hopefully bring home more than one trophy to UL. The categories include; Hip-hop, Irish dancing, Mixed and Overall. By entering them all it gives more people a chance to show the judges what they can do. Auditions will be held in the next few weeks so keep an eye out for posters and updates here and on our facebook with information on how auditions will run.

Check the Classes timetable for the times of the classes you want to do. If that’s all of them that’s fantastic, if not, then that’s cool too! Remember, it is extremely important you have paid the €5 membership which covers you for insurance before setting foot into a class and you must pay €2 on the door before class starts. So get out there...dance your little cotton socks off and make us proud!!
